Former Common nameC57BL/6-TgN(act-EGFP)OsbC14-Y01-FM131
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell line
Background strainInter- Substrain hybrid between C57BL/6Cr Slc and C57BL/6J Jcl
Appearanceblack [a/a]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Masaru Okabe, Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of C57BL/6 fertilized eggs. C57BL/6 background (C57BL/6JJcl and C57BL/6NCrSlc mixed).
Strain descriptionThese transgenic mice carry an EGFP (enhanced green fluorescence protein) cDNA under the control of a chicken beta-actin promoter and cytomegalovirus enhancer. Both homozygous and hemizygous transgenic mice express GFP in all over the body. This strain is useful for detection of cell fate in transplantation and developmental studies. Homozygous transgenic females experienced show a high incidence of sudden death (about 30%), putatively due to dilated cardiomyopaty. Transgene integration site: 14D1.
Colony maintenanceCarrier x Carrier (Homozygote x Homozygote) [or Crossing to C57BL/6NCrSlc]
