Background strainC57BL/6NCrlCrlj
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tomonori Takeuchi and Masayoshi Mishina, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo in 1997. FLP recombinase rexpression vector pEF-NFLP was injected into the pronuclei of C57BL/6NCrj fertilized eggs. Three transgenic mouse lines (FLP22, FLP39, and FLP66) were produced.
Strain descriptionThese transgenic mice express a FLP recombinase gene under the control of the human polypeptide chian elongation factor 1 alpha (EF-1alpha) gene promoter. This can be used to make an inducible knock-out by corssing with the other genetically-engineeered mice that have a pair of FLP recombinase target (FRT) sequence flanking the genomic region of interest. This strain is useful to remove the drug-resistance marker gene from mice manipulated for the conditional gene targeting using the Cre/loxP system.
Colony maintenanceCarrier x Carrier [or Crossing to C57BL/6NCrlCrlj]. Tg homozygous and hemizygous mice are viable and fertile.
