ES Cell line
Background strain
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentThis strain carries diabetes-related loci on Chr2 introduced by backcrossing from A/J to SM/J. This strain is used to understand the complex gene-gene interaction and as a model of human type 2 diabetes. This SM.A-t2dm2saR1A congenic strain was produced by introduction of the region between D2Mit11 and D2Mit102 of A/J onto the SM/J.
Strain descriptionDeveloped by Drs. Misato Kobayashi and Fumihiko Horio at Nagoya University in 2003. This congenic strain was produced by backcrossing A/J to SM/J.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Homozygote x Homozygote)
