BRC No.RBRC01351
TypeTargeted Mutation CongenicCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129S-Grm2<tm1Nak>/NakRbrc
Former Common nameC57BL/6-Grm2 tm (Nov.2011), GluR2 KO, mGluR2 KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineCCE/EK.CCE [129S/SvEv-Gpi1<c>]
Background strain
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Yokoi et al. (1996). A neomycin resistance cassette replaced 15.3-kb DNA fragment containing exon 2. The Grm2 deficient mice were produced by backcrossing to C57BL/6 strain for 20 times.
Strain descriptionmGluR2 (Grm2, G protein-coupled receptor, family C, group 1, member B) is widely dstributed both presynaptically and postsynaptically in varietry of neural cells. mGluR deficient mice have no behavioral abnormalities. But, a locomotor sensitization to cocaine administration was increased significantly. Moreover, significant impairment in motor coordination was detected. mGluR2 deficient mice were useful to clarify the rule in synaptic regulation of glutamatergic transmission in the neural network.
