ES Cell line | |
Background strain | C57BL/6 |
Appearance | |
Strain development | Developed by Dr. Tetsuo Noda, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute at and Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto at the University of Tokyo. This strain was produced by crossing Tob1 KO mice and Tob2 KO mice. |
Strain description | Tob is a member of antiproliferative protein family which is a negative regulator BMP/Smad signaling in osteoblasts. Tob1 null mice are viable and exhibit bone mass due to increased numbers of osteoblasts. While, Tob2 null mice appear normal. This strain is useful for elucidating of Tob gene function. |
Colony maintenance | Backcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl) |
