Strain development Developed by Dr. Shinya Yamanaka at Nara Institute of Science and Technology in 2003. A beta-geo cassette was inserted into the exson 2 whcich contains the homeodomain. The mutant mice were backcross to C57BL/6J.
Strain description Nanog gene is a important factor of maintaining ES cell pluripotent differentiation.
Homozygous mutant mice are embryonic lethal.
Colony maintenance Backcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl)
