SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129-Grn<tm1Mni>
Former Common nameProgranulin knock-out mouse, B6;129-Grn<tm1>
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineE14.1 [129P2/OlaHsd]
Background strainC57BL/6
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Masugi Nishihara, Veterinary Medical Science, The University of Tokyo and Yoichiro Iwakura, Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo in 2001. Targeting construct was electoroporated into E14.1 ES cells derived from 129P2/OlaHsd.
Strain descriptionGrn, granulin knockout mice. A 4.7 kb fragment encoding exon 2-13 of Grn gene was replaced with a PGK-neo-bpA cassette. Homozygous mutant mice show a decrease in ejaculation incidence, enhanced aggressiveness and an elevated level of anxiety in male.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6JJmsSlc].
