Background strain | |
Appearance | |
Strain development | Developed by Motoya Katsuki, Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo. CCE/EK.CCE ES cells were used. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 by Naohiro Hashimoto, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology. |
Strain description | dystrophin (Dmd) gene knockout mice. The exon 52 was replaced with a neo cassette. Mutant mice show hypertrophic skeletal muscles. Homozygous female and hemizygous male mutants are viable and fertile. The mice are difficult to start breeding at 8-10 weeks (12-16 weeks is better). |
Colony maintenance | Homozygote (female) x Hemizygote (male) [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl] |
