Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Hideaki Sumiyoshi (Oita Medical University), Francesco Ramirez (Weill College of Medical of Cornell University) and Hidekatsu Yoshioka (Oita Medical University).
Strain descriptionColl9a1 knockout mice. IRES-lacZ and PGK-neo cassette replaced exon 4 of Col19a1. Homozygous mutant mice show eating disorder by impaired sphincter relaxation in the lower esophagus, and more than 90% (in 129), 30-50% (in C57BL/6) of the mice die within 3 weeks after birth. Esophagus achalasia is also observed with aging.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Wild-type
