Strain development Developed by Drs. Yoshiaki Fujii-Kuriyama and Junsei Mimura at Tohoku University in 1997. The mutant mice are backcrossed to C57BL/6.  
Strain description B6.129S-Ahr<tm1Yfk>. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) (dioxin receptor) is a transcription factor that mediate to catalyze xenobiotic Phase I metabolism. Homozygous mutant mice shows a slightly slower growth rate compared than wild-types for the first few weeks of life.
