SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129P2-Mmp2<tm1Ito>/ItoRbrc
Former Common nameGelA KO (Nov. 2011), B6.129P2-Mmp2tm1Ito
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineE14 [129P2/OlaHsd]
Background strainC57BL/6JJcl
Appearanceblack
Strain developmentDeveloped by Takeshi Itoh and Shigeyoshi Itohara, Institute for Virus Research, Kyoto University in 1997. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6.
Strain descriptionThis strain was generated by gene targeting of gelatinase A (Mmp2, metalloproteinase 2). Homozygous mutant mice are completely devoid of gelatinase A. 5.9 kb of the gene including exon 1 was replaced with a PGK-neo cassette. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile, but show a subtle delay in their growth.
Colony maintenanceHomozygote x Heterozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl]. Homozygous mutant mice are viable and fertile, but show a subtle delay in their growth.
