SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameICR.Cg-Nanos1<tm1Ysa>/YsaRbrc
Former Common namenanos1 Knockout mice
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineTT2 [(C57BL/6NCrlj x CBA/JNCrlj)F1]
Background strainICR MCH
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Yumiko Saga, Natinal Institute of Genetics in 2000. LacZ and PGK-neo were inserted just before the translational start site of the nanos1 gene. The neo cassette was excised by crossing with CAG-Cre mice. Jcl:MCH (ICR) background.
Strain descriptionICR.Cg-Nanos1<tm1Ysa>/YsaRbrc. Nanos1, nanos homolog 1 (Dorosophila) is a nanos-related gene. Nanos encodes a RNA-binding protein containing a zinc-finger motif required for abdomen formation in Dorosophila. The nanos1 deficient mice are fertile and they show no detectable abnormality. Beta-gal activity indicates the nanos1 gene expressed in adult brain and gonad. This strain is useful for elucidation of the role of the nanos and the related genes.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Homozygote x Homozygote)
