Strain development | Developed by Dr. Yumiko Saga, Natinal Institute of Genetics in 2000. LacZ and PGK-neo were inserted just before the translational start site of the nanos1 gene. The neo cassette was excised by crossing with CAG-Cre mice. Jcl:MCH (ICR) background. |
Strain description | ICR.Cg-Nanos1<tm1Ysa>/YsaRbrc. Nanos1, nanos homolog 1 (Dorosophila) is a nanos-related gene. Nanos encodes a RNA-binding protein containing a zinc-finger motif required for abdomen formation in Dorosophila. The nanos1 deficient mice are fertile and they show no detectable abnormality. Beta-gal activity indicates the nanos1 gene expressed in adult brain and gonad. This strain is useful for elucidation of the role of the nanos and the related genes. |
