SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6;129P2-Ahr<tm1(AHR)Mym>/MymRbrc
Former Common nameHuman AhR knock in mouse
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineE14 [129P2/OlaHsd]
Background strainC57BL/6J
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Takashi Moriguchi et al. in 2001. Human AHR cDNA and neomycin resistant gene were inserted in mouse Ahr gene. This construct was electoroporated into E14 ES cells derived from 129P2/OlaHsd. This knock-in mice were backcrossed with C57BL/6J for several times.
Strain descriptionThe aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) (dioxin receptor) is a transcription factor that mediates to catalyze xenobiotic Phase I metabolism. Human AhR knock in mouse, possessing human AHR instead of mouse Ahr, is useful as humanized mouse to predict the biological effects of bioaccumulative environmental toxicants like TCDD in humans.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozyote x C57BL/6JJ)
