black [a/a B/B C/C +/+]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Masashi Kato, Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine. The Mt1-RET transgene was injected into the fertilized eggs of (BALB/c x C57BL/6) x BALB/c mice. C57BL/6 and BALB/c mixed background.
Strain descriptionMt1-Ret 304 transgenic mice. The mice express the human RET under the control of the mouse MT1 promoter/enhancer. This Mt1-RET 304 strain is a model of cutaneous melanosis, and develops benign tumors 100% on the skin. Of these tumors, 65% transform to malignant tumors in ten to twelve months after the birth. Tg homozygous mice are embryonic lethal.
Colony maintenanceCarrier x Noncarrier
