Strain development Developed by Dr. K. Kawai, Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1999. C57BL/6 and BALB/c mixed background.  
Strain description This transgenic mouse was generated by introducing RET with a MEN2A (cysteine 634 arginine) mutation fused to Moloney murine leukemia virus long terminal repeat. The heterozygous mice develop thyroid C-cell hyperplasia or medullary carcinoma.
