Strain development Developed by Dr. Miwako Ozaki, RIKEN Brain Science Institute in 2003.  
Strain description B6.B6D2-Tg(EF1A-GFP/Nrg1beta1)TD4. Neuregulin-1 (NRG-1) is a neurotrophic factor that is known to regulate the development of various tissues and/or the life/death of cells through activation of the ErbB family receptor tyrosine kinases, and implicated as a potential susceptibility gene for schizophrenia. This transgenic mice express a mutant NRG1beta1 (NRGB1) gene under the control of the EF1a-321 promoter. This strain is useful for investigating the function of the of NRG-1 gene.
