Strain nameB6;129-Gab2<tm1Thir>
Former Common nameGab2 KO mouse
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineR1 [(129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl<+>]
Background strainC57BL/6 and 129 mixed
Appearanceback or agouti (not fixed yet)
Strain developmentDeveloped by Toshio Hirano, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine in 2002. R1 ES cells were used. C57BL/6 and 129 mixed background.
Strain descriptionGab2 gene knockout mice. Exon encoding a major portion of the PH domain was replaced with a neo cassette. Gab2 gene is an adaptor molecule that plays a critical role in mediating cellular transformation. The number of mast cells is severely reduced in the stomach and less severely in the skin of homozygous mutant mice. Bone marrow-derived mast cells from the homozygous mutant mice exhibit an impaired KitL-induced ERK MAP kinase and Akt activation.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Homozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl] Reproductive performance is not so good.
