Strain description Coll9a1 knockout mice. IRES-lacZ and PGK-neo cassette replaced exon 4 of Col19a1. Homozygous mutant mice show eating disorder by impaired sphincter relaxation in the lower esophagus, and more than 90% (in 129), 30-50% (in C57BL/6) of the mice die within 3 weeks after birth. Esophagus achalasia is also observed with aging.
Colony maintenance Heterozygote x Wild-type
