Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Michael McBurney, Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre and Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa. A hygromycin resistance cassette was inserted to replace exons 5 and 6. 129 background.
Strain descriptionSirT1 knockout mice. A hygromycin resistance cassette was inserted to replace exons 5 and 6 of Sirt1 gene. Homozygous mutant mice die at birth. When outbred to CD1, SirT1 KO mice have short snouts, eyelid defect and are smaller than littermates at weaning.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote X Wild-type
