Strain development Developed by Hidetaka Shiratori and Hiroshi Hamada, Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences, Osaka University in 2001. G4 ES cells were used. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of B6C3F1 fertilized eggs. C57BL/6 and 129 mixed background.  
Strain description Pitx2 gene floxed mice. A loxP site was inserted in the intron 5, and a neo cassette with a 3' loxP site was inserted downstream of intron 5. Homozygous mice are viable and fertile.
