Strain development Developed by Ryo Kominami, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Science, Niigata University. TT2 ES cells derived from B6CBAF1 were used for the generation of knockout mice. C57BL/6 background (RBRC06231), BALB/c background (RBRC02421).
Strain description Bcl11b gene knock-out mice. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into exon 1 of the Bcl11b gene. Bcl11b is a tumor-suppressor gene involved in T cell lymphomas. Homozygous mutant mice diw within the first day after birth. Mutant mice show a block at the CD4-CD8 double-negative stage of thymocyte development without any impairment in cells of B- or gammadelta T cell lineages. C57BL/6 background (RBRC06231), BALB/c background (RBRC02421).
Colony maintenance Heterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6JJcl]
