Strain development | Developed by Takashi Iwamoto, Chubu University in 2015. B6D2F1 fertilized eggs were used for microinjection. Mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J three times. |
Strain description | Transgenic mouse line overexpressing human hexokinase 2 (HK2) under the control of rat Myh6 (myosin, heavy polypeptide) promoter. Hexokinase 2, which phosphorylates glucose to form G6P, is a key enzyme in glucose metabolism. A growing body of evidence has shown that HK2 is involved in cardioprotection. These transgenic mice overexpress human HK2 in the heart muscle and have no obvious abnormality. It was reported that cardiac overexpression of mouse HK2 attenuated hypertrophy by increasing pentose phosphate pathway. Two sublines are available (A, RBRC09804; B, RBRC09805) |
